Parvovirus – the Tiny, Travelling Killer
What is Parvovirus?
Parvovirus is a minute virus, various strains of which can affect pigs, dogs and cats. The dog parvovirus appeared only in 1978, virtually simultaneously across the world. The dog virus is thought to have developed from a wild dog virus in the USA.
It is too small even to be seen with regular microscopes. It tends to attack rapidly growing cells – different cells according to the species.
What does it do to animals?
