Two heart-rending pet industry stories to remind us of the need to counsel dog owners about responsible dog ownership – and don’t assume your Pet First Aid just made the right diagnosis!
1. Dog shot, and then chained in two separate associated incidents after vet nurse lets Labrador roam.
The messages: Being a vet nurse is NOT an excuse to let your pet roam, and is that animal attack actually really gunshot?
2. Dog kills woman and injures man in suburban home.
The messages: We talk a lot in Pet First Aid about managing danger – and this is a classic case of danger caused by (the) animal. The other message is that dogs are NOT humans – given particular circumstances, any dog will bite.
