The Australian Pet Industry Benevolent Fund

The Australian Pet Industry Benevolent Fund is a sum of money donated by members of the Pet Industry and administered by people acting in good faith and governance, to help provide emergency assistance to Businesses in the Pet Industry, fundraise and network between Pet Industry businesses to assist in crisis.

How the Pet Industry Benevolent Fund works…..

– The Fund collects money and invests it against a time of crisis or disaster

– Industry donates to the fund – after all it owns the moneys – through fundraisers, regular donations or special events. It can also accept bequeaths.

– Pets Australia is the secretariat for the Fund and provides services to the Fund, but does not own the Fund or have control over it. The fund is controlled by the Supervisors, who are all members of the Pet industry.

– In a crisis, pet business owners can apply to the Fund for assistance. This is usually a short-medium term interest free loan, or sometimes a grant  to tide you over until you can get things rolling again. The idea is that as pet businesses pull out of disaster back toward normal operation, they put the money back into the Fund to help others just as they were helped.
